escuela

first day of 1st grade
Excited about the little animal picks I got her for her lunches
It's that time of year again. Today was the first day of FIRST GRADE for Gwen. Is she really that old? She was really excited. Mostly about being able to use her thermos and lunch box for lunch today. She asked me to send dry cold cereal. She'll buy the milk at school. I do think she was a little nervous though, because she said her tummy didn't want breakfast this morning.

Today Morgan drove Gwen to school. She didn't want him to walk her in, so Morgan dropped her off by the crossing guard. She crossed the street then turned and waved and walked right in the school with no hesitation. I've mentioned before that I don't get emotional about sending my kids off to school. I won't say how Morgan felt this morning though. You can ask him. Let's just say that Morgan has told me on more than one occasion that I have a cold dead heart. Morgan does not.

This year Gwen is enrolled in the Spanish immersion program, which means half the day will be Spanish, and the other half is English. Her Spanish teacher is from Spain. We're excited about that. The Spanish teacher speaks no English to the kids from day one. She uses lots of pointing, and acting things out to get her point across. I would love to be there today to see the kids staring at her, wondering what the hell she's saying.

Good luck Gwennie Bug. Hope your day is fabuloso!!!

Awwww, that's so cool! Tell Gwen to call me if she needs any tutoring. I rocked Spanish in 7th grade. Or wait...
